Why Choose Organic, Toxin Free Products?

We are all obsessed with beauty products. Who doesn’t love the glow of a bronzer or those luscious, dramatic eyes with just a coat of mascara! But do you know what is used in your everyday beauty products? Do you read the labels and if so, do you really fully understand the ingredients in these products?

Beauty products are loaded with complex ingredients and harsh chemicals that we are unaware of thanks to poor standards and regulation. For this reason, worldwide, we are now seeing a huge shift towards cleaner and more natural product use.

Conventional beauty products

Believe it or not, our skin is actually living tissue, it’s the largest organ on our body, which most of us tend to forget. It absorbs oxygen and water and acts as our first line of defence from germs, bacteria, and everything bad in our environment. But what happens when you apply products loaded with toxic ingredients and chemicals onto your skin? Your skin simply does its job, absorbing the product where it’s distributed to the rest of the body, using your bloodstream as an easy access highway. These chemicals can cause skin irritations, allergic reactions, and in the long run even cause hormonal imbalances, cancer, and cell mutations.

Two of the most commonly used ingredients in conventional beauty products are parabens and phthalates. There are multiple studies showing how parabens mimic the hormone “oestrogen” in the human body and how this causes hormone-related cancers, thyroid disruption, gestational diabetes and even early onset puberty in girls. Phthalates (a family of chemicals used in chemical fragrances) can lead to reduced sperm count, type-II diabetes, infertility, and even breast cancer.

Refined petroleum that is found in most of our beloved lip balms and face creams was considered the largest contaminant to be present in the human body in a recent study.

To help you out we’ve made a list of some ingredients that you need to keep an eye out for and avoid altogether. These include the following:

  1. Parabens
  2. Fragrances
  3. Aluminium compounds
  4. Formaldehyde
  5. Refined petroleum
  6. Hydroquinone
  7. Triclosan
  8. Oxybenzone
  9. Ethoxylated agents

Why Choose Organic Products?

1.  Better skin & health

Unlike conventional beauty products, organic products don’t contain silicones and petroleum-byproducts that temporarily mask aging by filling wrinkles or that use chemicals that make your skin feel super smooth instantly but are actually damaging your skin. Organic ingredients instead help to heal the skin naturally and are incredibly effective, especially for those with sensitive skin. These nutrient-dense ingredients help reduce irritation and calm conditions like eczema and itchy/flaky, red, irritated skin.

In fact, toxin free products are an important step in moving towards improving your life and overall wellbeing. By saying no to unknown ingredients, you are protecting your skin and body from a host of potential long-term health implications.

2.  They’re cruelty free

The majority of real toxin-free brands are in fact cruelty free. This means they are not tested on animals unlike conventional beauty brands.

3.  They’re Eco friendly:

When you choose organic products, you are automatically minimising your impact on the environment for two reasons:

  1. Organic farming practices don’t use harmful pesticides that cause damage to their surrounding environment.
  2. As products are washed down the drain as we use them, they make their way back to our waterways again causing further damage to the environment. Additionally, more of the organic industry is now moving towards environmentally friendly packaging; another great reason to make the switch!

Here at Natural Society all of our brands are completely toxin and 100% cruelty free. We have very strict regulations when it comes to ensuring that each brand displays a serious commitment to testing their products on humans, not animals!
